Otford church hall
The Village Hall at Otford, designed by Lutyens in 1909 as a modest church hall, is a simply planned building with well-judged proportions, a divisible platform end and small kitchen, carefully composed so as not to dominate its plain village surroundings.

Description
The Village Hall at Otford, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, is show well by the two accompanying photographs. Its planning is simple; the platform end can be divided from the main part of the hall by doors to make a separate room, and there is a small kitchen with gas stove, so that refreshments can be prepared. (Country Life, 1919, p.447)
The church hall is a much better example of a simple building designed so that it does not hector its simple companions, but managing to get the proportions just right too. No wonder; for Lutyens himself designed it, in 1909. His brother was the vicar of Otford. (Pevsner, 2012, p.442)
