Shere cottages
In Upper Street, a pair of cottages designed by Lutyens in 1892 blend unobtrusively among the older half‑timbered and knapped‑flint houses such as Knapps Cottage and Denmarke.
Description
At the top is UPPER STREET, where there are more half-timber and knapped flint cottages (e.g. KNAPPS COTTAGE), and DENMARKE, which is thickly plastered over its jetty with gabled end and an original window on the side. Further down on the other side a pair of COTTAGES by Lutyens, 1892, grouping harmoniously with their genuine ancestors. (O’Brien et al., 2022, p.641)
