Lutyens’s late preliminary designs for a Gothic-style addition to Westminster Abbey proposed a square building with a low central octagonal spire, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1943 but never built.

Description

Lutyens prepared these preliminary designs for a Gothic style addition to Westminster Abbey very late in his life. He planned a square building with a low central octagonal spire. The designs were exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1943. (Amery et al, 1981, Cat no.283)
