Afton Cottages
Afton Cottage and its neighbouring Lutyens‑designed cottages on Church Road (1898), built for the Webbs of Milford House, form a brown‑brick, tile‑hung, end‑jettied group that sympathetically echoes the local vernacular of the older village cottages.

Description
E of the church on Church Road, AFTON COTTAGE and its neighbours form one very pretty group by Lutyens, 1898, commissioned by the Webbs of Milford House. In the local vernacular, the inspiration is found close by in the older cottages along the road. (O’Brien et al., 2022, p.525)
Cottages. 1898 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Brown brick with tile hung gables and plain tiled roofs. Two storeys with end gables jettied out on first floor. Ridge stacks left and right of centre, further stack to left end. One three-light horizontal sliding sash window to each end of the first floor and ground floor; one four-light window to centre of first floor, one three-light window below to centre. Door to left hand return front under flat hood (9). Further doors to left of centre in arched porch recess under inscribed keystone (11) and to right hand return front under flat hood (15).
