Chussex
Chussex, a 1908 classical house by Lutyens for W. Herbert Fowler on the Nursery Road Estate, has a garden front of c.1710 character with parapeted central bays, pilasters and arched French windows, hip-roofed wings to the entrance side, and an internal chinoiserie stair screen in place of a balustrade.

Description
Riddell simultaneously began development of the Nursery Road Estate immediately n off Deans Lane, beginning with an avenue of plane trees up to another classical house by Lutyens: Chussex, 1908, for W. Herbert Fowler, club secretary. Middle three bays of the garden front in the manner of 1710, with panelled parapet, pilasters supporting urns and segmental-arched French windows. The side bays turn back as hip-roofed wings on the more conventional entrance front. All his mastery of carefully built-up masses disappeared with the change in style.
